Club Wine Tasting and Wine Auction
Winemaker Mark Kirkby - Guest Speaker
Mark Kirkby from Topper's Mountain Vineyard planted 22 varieties of grape. Now he has 11 varieties left which ended up being more obscure alternative varieties including Nebbiolo, Tempranillo, Tannat, Gewurztraminer to name a few. Mark has won many awards both on and off shore with his true coolclimate high-altitude wines. Some of these varieties were introduced by Mark and then served with each of the courses at the dinner.
Club member Alastair Moore then took control and delivered a fantastic mystery wine auction which encouraged spirited bidding amongst the audience. 50 + lots were up for sale with average prices of $120+ per bottle which made for a very successful evening of fun and very profitable fundraising for the Club’s charitable activities. Prices ranged from $110 to $160 per bottle with a 1984 Grange reaching $430. The Club grossed over $7500 on the night.
Fathers Day Luncheon - Fund Raiser for the Prostate Foundation
Members of the Club recently gathered at Petersons Winery Guest House for a very pleasant lunch to raise funds for this worthy organisation.
Petersons very generously added their support to the day with a great venue and donated wines for a raffle. We are lucky to have such good support from our local businesses.
